World Expo 2012 | The Netherlands
The theme of the 2012 World Horticultural Expo was: “Be part of the theatre in nature, get closer to the quality of life”. The 66 hectare site was located on the outskirts of Venlo, The Netherlands in close proximity to the German border. It was the sixth World Horticultural Expo in the Netherlands.
Opened on April 4, 2012 by her royal highness Queen Beatrix, the expo hosted over 2 million visitors and 308 participating companies and countries. With international representation from China, Russia, Bolivia, Spain, Kenya, Thailand, Morocco, Germany, and many more, as well as regional and corporate representation of major horticultural industries, the Expo provided a memorable experience more than worthy of its highest rating by the Paris based Bureau International des Exposition and the International Association of Horticultural Producers.
Prior to and during the operation of the park Vineland and Partners worked closely with the selected third party operators in attractions (Doppelmayer and Silvretta Montafon), Food and Beverage (Sodexo), retailers as well as the employment department of the Venlo region and the National Association of vocational and universities to ensure a smooth operation everyday.
The training and development program for the expo was distinguised with an IAAPA Brass Ring Award nomination in 2011 and 2012 for "best training program for facilities with over one million in attendance".
Overall Guest satisfaction scored 8.6/10 and colleague satisfaction scored 9.2/10. A 92% Colleague retention rate was achieved and at the end of the season 67% of Expo colleagues found a new job, many having been in a job search more 3-5 years.
Vineland & Partners, was selected to manage and operate the 2012 World Expo and worked as an instrumental partner in the development, opening and liquidation of the expo, specifically the pre-opening management and ongoing operation of the theme park. The Expo hosted over 2 million guests during its six months of operation.
